Weird A-Z. U is for The Unfinished Obelisk
This 3000-year-old obelisk in Egypt's Aswan quarry developed a flaw during quarrying and was never completed, but left to lie still attached to the rock. If it had been extracted and erected as originally conceived, the Unfinished Obelisk would have stood 137 feet (42m) tall and weighed 1200 tonnes, dwarfing all others.
The largest surviving obelisk, the Lateran Obelisk in Rome, rises 105 feet (32m) and weighs 462 tonnes.
